Hey folks! We're seeking volunteers to judge rounds at the Minnesota Debate Institute, the not-for-profit LD & PF debate camp taking place at the U of M next week. With an all-volunteer staff, we aim to provide one of the most affordable camps in the country so that every LD & PF debater has a chance to go to camp. We couldn't do this without the support we get each year from the community, and with this year set to be our biggest yet -- over 100 students -- we are again asking for your help.

We'll have rounds in two chunks.
  1. First, we run nightly practice rounds from 6:00pm-8:30pm on Tuesday, August 7th – Friday, August 10th. For those rounds, the goal is to give good feedback on how debaters can improve.
  2. Second, we host a culminating camp tournament on Saturday, August 11th from 8:00am to 3:00pm. You can volunteer for the full day or for a half day. Please let us know if your schedule will allow for only a half day. Please also feel free to forward this opportunity along to friends and family! Anyone can judge as long as they are over 18. No debate experience is required.

If you would like to volunteer to help give kids a phenomenal and affordable camp experience, you can sign up for one (or more!) judging slots on our Google Doc!

Our priority is the camp tournament on Saturday. If you can only judge once, please judge the camp tournament—we need a certain number of judges to make the tournament run at all. But please sign up for as many slots on as many days as you are able: We literally couldn't run this camp without the help of amazing volunteers like you, and we're always grateful when the community turns out to ensure an affordable camp for debaters from Minnesota and beyond.
